Pets Resting on Shabbat

Rabbi I have an interesting question for you. My dog, Lex, has been trained to fetch the morning newspaper for me every day. A couple of weeks ago we read in the torah that on Shabbat even ones animals must rest. Can Lex continue to fetch the paper for me on Shabbat, or must he rest too?

He shouldn't be getting the paper, & you shouldn't be reading it on Shabbat. If necessary, let him just look up the scores for you...... AA
