Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiMy comments about Timtum Halev remain. The people asking about Timtum Halev in this day and age are people who do not necessarily do the requirements 100%. Timtum Halev is an issue for a Full Tazaddik who wants to exceed his requirements and do Prishut. When one reaches that level, they can look into the concept. Moshe Rabeinu wouldn't drink from any of the Egyptian women's milk. All the Seforim are clear that first one becomes a 100% Tzaddik and then and only then may one go into Chassidut & Prishut. The Mesilat Yesharim is based on that. Spend some time learning that, it'll be worth the effort. Now let's get back to the Timtum Halev issue. Is this person in question carrying in an Eiruv around a city? Does he study Torah in his every free moment, at least 7-8 hours per day? Is he in full control of his anger? Is he a complete Anav? Does he shake a woman's hand when he can't avoid it? Does he know Tanach almost by heart? Has he learned through Shas a few times? I can go on & on & on.... This problem is the worst problem in our generation. Everyone is stricter than the next, but many of the ABC's are ignored. This is what's driving our children to run for their lives and become labeled, "Kids at Risk." .....well then let's make an organization to help them. Let's make parlor meetings...... What a wonderful society we live in. Why not just do the mitzvot as written. It's a lifetime job. It isn't easy. It's much easier to look like a great Tzaddik by doing Chumrot. Especially if everyone knows you're doing them..... AA
