Question

Please ask your father. I seem to recall that according to the halakhah it is forbidden to plant trees in Jerusalem

The Rambam discusses this in Hilchot Beit Habechira 7:14 and look at the Mahar"i Kurkus that is printed on the page in many Rambams. There are many other Seforim that address this. AA
