Vegetarian

Question

There is an Indian vegetarian restaurant in Montclair N. J. called Udupi Village. It is strictly vegetarian and is undert he Hashgachah of Rabbi Spivak of Monsey. One of the local rabbis has stated that you can't eat there because there is no mashgiach temidi. Does this make sense to you? Also, one of the mashgichim at another Indian restaurant in NYC said that the Indians wash the vegetables very well, and in India they know what it means to get sick and even die from insect infections and they wash it better than we do. (This was said by Rabbi Gulevsky, the mashgiah, who taught at YU for many years asnd is the grandson of the Brisker dayan R. Simcha Zelig). Do you think he is right, and that we can rely on the Indians to wash the vegetables?

Find out who puts the food on the fire, and who lights the fire, or is it just a pilot, etc... Otherwise we are going to treat it like any other non-kosher joint and just do the routine. AA
